Method to obtain the University Admissions Handbook valid for the academic year 2024/2025 

University Admissions Handbook valid for the academic year 2024/2025 can be obtained in following methods by making a cash payment of Rs. 1000/= in respect of each Handbook. 

  • From the University Grants Commission Secretariat, No. 20, Ward Place, Colombo 07. 
  • From the Distributing Agents appointed by the University Grants Commission for selling the University Admissions Handbooks. 
  • University Admissions Handbooks can also be obtained by post. 
    • When University Admissions Handbooks are obtained by post, the applicants should make a deposit of Rs. 1000/= in respect of each Handbook at any Branch of the Bank of Ceylon or People’s Bank to the credit of the UGC Collection Account No. 0002323287 at Torrington Branch of the Bank of Ceylon or Collection Account No. 167-1-001-4- 3169407 at Town Hall Branch of the People’s Bank by filling in the paying-in-voucher provided by the Bank. 
    • The counterfoil of the paying-in-voucher duly authenticated by the Bank with the seal and the signature of an authorized officer should be sent along with the written request for University Admissions Handbooks.
    • Every written request for Handbooks should be made to the Deputy Secretary/University Admissions, University Grants Commission, No. 20, Ward Place, Colombo 07 by post, giving the name of the applicant and the medium in which the applicant wishes to have the Handbook on admission procedure. 
    • In addition, a self-addressed un-stamped envelope of not less than 37cm X 26 cm in size should be forwarded along with the written request. Any Clarification contact information Centre of University Grants Commission

Photography Competition 2025 - World Environment Day


Central Environmental Authority has organized a photography Competition targeting the World Environment Day.

Theme of the Competition:

“The Environment Protects Us; Let Us Protect the Environment”

Objectives:
To raise awareness among the general public and school children about the importance of conserving Sri Lanka’s environment.

Competition Themes:
  • Scenic Beauty of Sri Lanka
  • Hidden Biodiversity of Sri Lanka
  • The Relationship Between Humans and the Environment

Competition Categories:

School Category
Open to all school students (from government, semi-government, and private schools) in Grades 9 to 12.


Open Category
Open to all Sri Lankan citizens.

Competition Rules and Regulations:

Submission Deadline: 23rd May 2025
  • Each participant may submit up to three (03) photographs — one per theme.
  • All photographs must be taken within Sri Lanka.

Disqualified Content:
  • Entries must NOT include
    • Farm animals, zoo animals, pets, or cultivated plants
    • Captive or restrained animals, animal models, or animals exploited for commercial gain
    • Images involving live bait
    • Previously published photographs
Submission Requirements:
Only original color or black-and-white digital images in JPG/JPEG format, max file size 10MB

If selected as a finalist or winner, the entrant must provide the original RAW file (e.g., CR2, CRW, or native DNG), or the original unedited JPEG

Finalists must also provide complete information about the photograph (location, date, camera settings, equipment used, etc.)

Digital Guidelines:
  • Images must be submitted as high-quality JPEGs without interpolation
  • Only minimal digital adjustments are allowed: dust spot removal, levels, curves, color balance, contrast, saturation, and sharpening
  • Cropping is allowed, but excessive cropping that significantly reduces image quality is discouraged
  • The integrity of the original scene must be maintained; no compositing, sandwiching, or multiple exposures
  • No adding or removing of elements such as animals, plants, people, or backgrounds
  • File names should include the participant’s name, title of the photograph, and main subject
  • No watermarks or visible names on images (photos with watermarks will be disqualified)
