Special University Admission for Talented in Sports


The University Grants Commission will entertain applications from candidates who have excelled in the field of sports to follow a course of study in Sports Science & Management conducted by Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and University of Kelaniya and to follow a course of study in Physical Education conducted by Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and University of Jaffna.

The requirements to be fulfilled for Special Admission:
  • Winning medals or participation in Olympic Games.
  • Winning at least Gold, Silver or Bronze Medals in Commonwealth Games, Asian Games or SAARC Games.
  • Member of a national team representing Sri Lanka at Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, SAARC Games or in a recognized World Cup in a sport such as Cricket, Football, Rugby, Volleyball, Netball or any other sport as decided by the University Grants Commission.

Gazette Application for the Admission to National College of Education for the GCE 2023 & 2024 Batches has been Released.

Closing Date 28.11.2025 .  05.12.2025


APPLICATIONS are invited from the applicants who have acquired the requisite academic qualifications and eligibility to follow a three-year pre-service National Diploma in Teaching Course in a National College of Education. 

  • This is relevant only for the students who have passed the G.C.E. (A/ L) Examination relevant to the years 2023 or 2024. 
  • Accordingly, the applicants who have appeared for the G. C. E. (A/L) Examination relevant to the year 2023 or 2024 are eligible to apply. 
  • All the applicants should forward the application online in accordance with the instructions mentioned in Chapter10.0 - ‘Instructions for Applying’ of the Gazette notification. 
  • The applicants who are qualified to apply based on their results in 2023 and in 2024 should submit two separate online applications. 
  • Applications should be forwarded on or before 28/11/2025.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to read and understand every detail provided in the Gazette notification under the courses s/he applies for, and complete the application accordingly. Requests regarding incorrect applications shall not be considered later. 
  • Before completing the application, special attention should be paid to the number of applicants to be recruited for each course according to the vacancies available in each district based and national based on the G. C. E. (A/L) results of 2023 and 2024 as mentioned in the tables 14.1 to 14.8 in clause 14.0 in the Gazette notification.
