Open & Limited Competitive Examinations – 2026
Eastern Provincial Public Service
Applications are invited for the Open and Limited Competitive Examinations for Recruitment to Grade III of the Provincial Management Service Officers’ Service in the Eastern Provincial Public Service – 2026.
The two recruitment examinations are published separately. Applicants should carefully check the relevant notice, eligibility requirements and application instructions before submitting the online application.
Open Competitive Examination
Who Can Apply?
- The applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of the Eastern Province.
- During the six years immediately preceding the closing date, the applicant should have resided continuously in the Eastern Province for at least three years.
- Applicants must possess good character and satisfactory physical and mental health.
- All required qualifications must have been completed on or before the closing date.
Educational Qualifications
- Passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting, with credit passes in four subjects, including a language and Mathematics.
- Passed all subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in one sitting, excluding the Common General Test and General English.
Salary Scale
Rs. 48,470 – 10 × 540 – 11 × 630 – 10 × 1,010 – 10 × 1,190 – Rs. 82,800
Written Examination
The examination will be conducted in Sinhala and Tamil. The examination medium selected in the application cannot be changed later.
Candidates should obtain at least 40% for each question paper and at least 50% of the total marks to qualify.
Limited Competitive Examination
Who Can Apply?
- Applicants must be serving in the Eastern Provincial Public Service.
- Applicants should have completed at least five years of satisfactory service immediately before the closing date.
- Applicants must hold a permanent appointment and satisfy the salary category and service requirements specified in the official notice.
- Applicants should not have been subjected to disciplinary punishment under the applicable provisions.
- Applications must be submitted through the Head of the Department.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in not more than two sittings, including a language and Mathematics or an accepted equivalent Mathematics subject, with at least two credit passes.
Salary Scale
Rs. 48,470 – 10 × 540 – 11 × 630 – 10 × 1,010 – 10 × 1,190 – Rs. 82,800
Written Examination
The examination will be conducted in Sinhala and Tamil. Applicants may sit the examination only in the medium selected in the application.
Candidates should obtain at least 40% for each question paper and at least 50% of the total marks to qualify.
Important Application Instructions
- The online application must be completed in English.
- Pay the examination fee of Rs. 1,000 at a Divisional Secretariat in the Eastern Province in the name specified in the official notice.
- Upload the payment receipt when completing the online application.
- After applying online, download and print the completed application.
- Attach the original payment receipt securely to the printed application.
- Sign and certify the application according to the instructions in the relevant examination notice.
- Send the printed application by registered post to the address given in the official notice within the prescribed period.
- Keep a copy of the completed application and payment receipt for future reference.
