Recruitment Overview

The Eastern Provincial Public Service Commission has invited online applications for recruitment to Grade III of the Colonization Officer Service in the Land Administration Department of the Eastern Province. Recruitment will be conducted through separate Open and Limited Competitive Examinations, based on provincial merit.

Open Competitive Examination - 13 Vacancies

Who may apply?

Sri Lankan citizens who satisfy the prescribed character, health and Eastern Province residency conditions.
Age: Not less than 18 years and not more than 30 years on the closing date.
G.C.E. O/L: Pass six subjects in one sitting, with credit passes in the relevant language, Science, Mathematics and one other subject.
G.C.E. A/L: Pass three subjects in one sitting in the Biological Science, Mathematics or Technology stream, including two prescribed science/agriculture-related subjects.
Professional qualification: A recognized two-year Diploma in Agriculture or an accepted equivalent qualification, as specified in the notice.

Service condition: Appointees must be willing to serve anywhere in the Eastern Province and complete the compulsory service period stated in the notice.

Limited Competitive Examination - 6 Vacancies

Who may apply?

Eligible officers already serving in the Eastern Provincial Public Service.
The appointment must be permanent, with the required satisfactory and active service period certified by the Head of Department.
Age: No maximum age limit applies to Limited recruitment.
Education: G.C.E. O/L pass in six subjects within not more than two sittings, with credit passes in the relevant language, Science and Mathematics.
Professional qualification: A recognized two-year Diploma in Agriculture or an accepted equivalent qualification.
Experience: The prescribed permanent, active and satisfactory service experience must be completed as detailed in the official notice.

Applications from serving officers must be submitted through the Head of Department with the required recommendation and release consent.

Written Examination

Intelligence Test: 100 marks - 1 hour
Subject-related Technical Test: 100 marks - 2 hours
Pass mark: 40% for each paper

Applications are invited for the Open and Limited Competitive Examinations for Recruitment to Grade III of the Provincial Management Service Officers’ Service in the Eastern Provincial Public Service – 2026.

The two recruitment examinations are published separately. Applicants should carefully check the relevant notice, eligibility requirements and application instructions before submitting the online application.

Open Competitive Examination

Number of Vacancies: 123

Application Period: From 15 July 2026 at 9.00 a.m. to 14 August 2026 at 10.00 p.m.

Examination Fee: Rs. 1,000

Age Limit: Applicants should be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years as at the closing date.

Who Can Apply?

The applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
The applicant must be a permanent resident of the Eastern Province.
During the six years immediately preceding the closing date, the applicant should have resided continuously in the Eastern Province for at least three years.
Applicants must possess good character and satisfactory physical and mental health.
All required qualifications must have been completed on or before the closing date.

Educational Qualifications

Passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting, with credit passes in four subjects, including a language and Mathematics.
Passed all subjects at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in one sitting, excluding the Common General Test and General English.

MN 2-2025:
Rs. 48,470 – 10 × 540 – 11 × 630 – 10 × 1,010 – 10 × 1,190 – Rs. 82,800

Written Examination

Aptitude Test: 100 marks – 1 hour

Language Proficiency: 100 marks – 2½ hours

The examination will be conducted in Sinhala and Tamil. The examination medium selected in the application cannot be changed later.

Candidates should obtain at least 40% for each question paper and at least 50% of the total marks to qualify.

Examination Fee: Rs. 1,000

Maximum Age Limit: No maximum age limit applies to limited recruitment.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must be serving in the Eastern Provincial Public Service.
Applicants should have completed at least five years of satisfactory service immediately before the closing date.
Applicants must hold a permanent appointment and satisfy the salary category and service requirements specified in the official notice.
Applicants should not have been subjected to disciplinary punishment under the applicable provisions.
Applications must be submitted through the Head of the Department.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants should have passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in not more than two sittings, including a language and Mathematics or an accepted equivalent Mathematics subject, with at least two credit passes.
