Open Competitive Examination 2026
The Southern Provincial Public Service Commission has invited online applications for the Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to vacancies in Grade III of Class 3 of the Southern Provincial Information and Communication Technology Service.
The written examination is expected to be held in November 2026 at an examination centre established in Galle Town.
Appointment and Salary
- The post is permanent and pensionable.
- The appointment is subject to a probationary period of three years.
- A minimum service period of three years at the first place of appointment is compulsory, subject to the appointing authority’s decisions.
- Salary Code: MT 01-2025.
- Monthly salary scale: Rs. 50,090 – Rs. 84,420.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in six subjects at not more than two sittings.
- Obtained five credit passes, including Language, Mathematics and English Language.
Professional Qualifications
Applicants should have completed one of the following:
- A Diploma, Higher Diploma or higher course relevant to Computer Science, Information Technology or Information and Communication Technology from a university or degree-awarding institution recognized by the University Grants Commission;
- A recognized Diploma or higher course, or a course of at least 1,500 hours, in Computer, IT or ICT;
- NVQ Level 5 or above in Computer, IT or ICT from an institution recognized and registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission; or
- A recognized course of at least 1,500 hours in the relevant field from an eligible institution.
Experience: Not applicable.
Age Limit
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age as at 18 September 2026.
- Applicants must have been born on or before 18 September 2008.
- Applicants must have been born on or after 18 September 1991.
Residence and Other Requirements
- Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka and possess good character and health.
- Applicants must possess the required physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of the Southern Province.
- Applicants should have been permanent residents of a district in the Southern Province continuously for three years within the five years immediately preceding the closing date, subject to the marriage-related residence provisions stated in the official notice.
- All required qualifications must have been completed on or before 18 September 2026.
Written Examination
Duration: 2 hours | Marks: 100 | Pass mark: 40%
Duration: 1 hour | Marks: 100 | Pass mark: 40%
Candidates must obtain at least 40% in each paper and at least 50% of the total aggregate marks. The examination will be available in Sinhala, Tamil and English media. All papers must be answered in the selected medium.
Examination Fee
The examination fee is Rs. 1,000 and must be paid online using an accepted VISA or MasterCard. Fees paid will not be refunded or transferred to another examination.

සාමාන්ය පෙළ විභාගයේ භාෂාව, ගණිතය සහ ඉංග්රීසි භාෂාව ඇතුළුව විෂයන් පහකට සම්මාන සාමාර්ථ සහිතව විෂයන් හයක් සමත්ව තිබිය යුතුය. ඊට අමතරව පරිගණක විද්යාව, තොරතුරු තාක්ෂණය හෝ ICT ක්ෂේත්රයට අදාළ පිළිගත් ඩිප්ලෝමා, උසස් ඩිප්ලෝමා, NVQ 5 හෝ ඊට ඉහළ සුදුසුකමක් තිබිය යුතුය.

க.பொ.த. சாதாரண தரப் பரீட்சையில் மொழி, கணிதம் மற்றும் ஆங்கில மொழி உட்பட ஐந்து திறமைச் சித்திகளுடன் ஆறு பாடங்களில், இரண்டுக்கு மேற்படாத அமர்வுகளில் சித்தியடைந்திருக்க வேண்டும்.
கணினி விஞ்ஞானம், தகவல் தொழில்நுட்பம் அல்லது தகவல் மற்றும் தொடர்பாடல் தொழில்நுட்பத் துறையில் அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட டிப்ளோமா, உயர் டிப்ளோமா, குறைந்தது 1,500 மணித்தியாலப் பாடநெறி அல்லது NVQ மட்டம் 5 அல்லது அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட தகுதி தேவை.
