This circular outlines the national-level programmes, religious activities, and community initiatives to be conducted across Sri Lanka to commemorate the thrice-blessed events of Lord Buddha.
Vesak Week: May 27 – June 02, 2026
The Government has officially declared Vesak Week to commemorate the sacred life events of Lord Buddha and to promote spiritual and social development across the country.

- 30.05.2026 – Sil & Meditation Programmes
- 31.05.2026 – Training for Bhikku & Silmatha
- 01.06.2026 – Spiritual Development Activities
- 02.06.2026 – Environmental & Shramadana Programmes
- Free medical clinics & eye donation programs
- Drug prevention awareness for youth
- Religious observances & meditation
- Community service (Shramadana)
- Tree planting & environmental campaigns
All institutions must organize meaningful religious programmes and avoid entertainment events. Focus should be on spiritual development and community service.
