The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has issued the official Vesak Week Circular 2026, declaring the period from May 27 to June 02, 2026 as Vesak Week. This circular outlines the national-level programmes, religious activities, and community initiatives to be conducted across Sri Lanka to commemorate the thrice-blessed events of Lord Buddha.

The Government has officially declared Vesak Week to commemorate the sacred life events of Lord Buddha and to promote spiritual and social development across the country.
