Japan Scholarships for Public Sector Officer

The Project for Human Resources Development Scholarship (JDS) is calling applications from potential candidates who are interested in two years Master's degree in Japan for the academic year 2026 - 2027.

Eligibility criteria

To be citizens of Sri Lanka.
Should have a good command of both written and spoken English.
"Executives/ Senior Executives", mentioned in the Public Administration Circular No.06/2006, Annexure II, Page 2, IV Senior Level, and Page 5, 3.10 & 3.11
Semi government staffs (BOI, NBRO, CEA, NWSDB, WMA, UDA) can only apply under limited components
Applicants are expected to have special interest in studying in Japan as well as motivation to utilize their experience and human network developed through JDS in their career

Exam Department August 20, 2025

NIC Compulsory for Exams in 2026

Exam department has released a special announcement on the importance of NIC for the School Exams.

Students must use the National Identity Card (NIC) when applying for GCE O/L, GCE A/L, and GIT examinations. Submitting applications without NICs has caused many difficulties for both applicants and the Department of Examinations.

For 2025 (2026) O/L exam – Schools should take necessary steps to ensure that students obtain their NICs before submitting applications. Schools must provide guidance and support to students regarding this.

From 2026 onwards – It will be compulsory to use the NIC number when applying for GCE O/L, GCE A/L, and GIT examinations. Therefore, students must be informed and guided to obtain their NICs in time.

Students must follow the official instructions and regulations issued by the Department for Registration of Persons when applying for NICs, including required documents.

National School Teacher Transfer Application - 2025

Applications are invited for the National School Teacher Transfer 2025.

Applications for transfers should be made compulsorily if the service period of the current school is 9 years or more than that by 30.06.2025.

Application Period

21.08.2025 - 07.09.2025

After submitting Online Application, Teachers should get the printout submit to the principal on o before 08.09.2025 with below documents.

A copy of the teacher’s original appointment letter, certified by the Principal.

A copy of the transfer letter to the present service school, certified by the Principal.

A copy of the personal timetable for the year 2025, certified by the Principal.

If teaching subjects other than the appointed subject, a certified copy of the highest educational/professional qualification relevant to those subjects.

If medical reasons are to be submitted, Form TTB/2025/05 recommended by a specialist who treats the patient, either in a government hospital or a registered private hospital.

When it is not possible to include all the information mentioned under 7.2 of the online application, the certified information format by the Principal.

Circular - Seiri Week in Public Institutions

Ministry of Public administration, Provincial Council and local government has released a circular on Implementing the “Seiri Week” to maintain public institutions in a well-organized manner parallel to the “Clean Sri Lanka” national programme.

It is the responsibility of all heads of public institutions to create a clean, healthy and safe environment that helps the officers in their institutions perform their duties properly and freely. Such an environment will also create a positive impression of the office among the service recipients. Creating a peaceful and free working environment for officers will also contribute to the effective and efficient utilization of the limited space available in public institutions. As one step towards this end, it has been decided to declare and implement a “Seiri Week” for disposing of the unnecessary items accumulated in all public institutions. Accordingly, this programme should be implemented from 01st to 04th of September 2025.
