About the Vacancies
The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited, widely known as Lake House, invites applications from qualified, experienced and committed candidates for the following positions.
01. Proofreader – Grade III (English)
Required Qualifications
- A Diploma in English from a recognized institution with three years of experience as a Proofreader.
- Relevant NVQ Level 05 or above with three years of experience as a Proofreader.
- Passed the GCE Advanced Level Examination with five years of experience as a Proofreader.
Additional Requirements
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation and writing style.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience in desktop proofreading will be considered an added qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Proofread advertising content to ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency before publication.
- Coordinate with the Supervisor and DTP Supervisor to resolve content and formatting issues.
- Ensure that all content complies with media ethics, company guidelines and the Code of Conduct while meeting deadlines.
02. Head of Information Technology
Required Academic and Professional Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Networking or a related field, with at least three years of relevant experience in a managerial position.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Networking or a related field, with six years of relevant experience in a managerial position.
- Professional membership of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka with six years of relevant experience in a managerial position.
- A relevant NVQ Level 07 qualification with eight years of relevant experience in a managerial position.
Technical and Management Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, Cisco technologies and emerging technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organization’s IT strategy in line with its business objectives.
- Lead, mentor and manage the information technology team.
- Oversee networks, servers, data storage and other IT infrastructure.
- Implement cybersecurity measures and ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
- Manage the IT budget, resources and technology investments.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and external service providers.
- Plan and manage digitalization and process automation initiatives.
