📌 Examination Announcement

The Department of Examinations has announced that the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination 2026, conducted for the selection of students for schools and the awarding of scholarships, will be held on Sunday, 09 August 2026.

The examination is scheduled to be conducted at 2,723 examination centres throughout the island.

Admission cards and relevant documents for school candidates have been sent to the principals of their respective schools.

School principals should distribute the admission cards to eligible candidates and provide the necessary assistance and instructions relating to the examination.

🏫 Instructions for School Principals

Principals must distribute admission cards to all eligible school candidates and provide them with the necessary examination instructions.

If there are any discrepancies in candidates’ details, the relevant amendments can be made through the official online examination service.

The online facility for making admission card amendments will be available from 23 July 2026 to 03 August 2026.

Examination timetable and admission card notice for qualified candidates

🗓️ The examination will be held on 25 and 26 July and 1 and 2 August 2026.

The Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka has announced the timetable and admission card arrangements for the July 2026 Examination. The examination will be conducted in morning and afternoon sessions across several cities.

🪪 How to Obtain a Duplicate Admission Card

Candidates who have not received their admission cards should obtain a duplicate from the AAT Examinations Division or one of the specified AAT branches.

Time: 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Required documents: AAT student registration card and National Identity Card

Duplicate admission cards can be obtained from the AAT Centre or AAT branches in Kurunegala, Matara, Kandy, Ratnapura, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Ampara and Gampaha.

Examination Department Plans Timetable Revision

The Department of Examinations is preparing to revise the timetable relating to the GCE Advanced Level Chemistry examination.

Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Liyanage stated that the decision was taken after considering special requests received from school principals, teachers and students.

She made the announcement while participating in a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information on 24 June 2026.

Reason for the Proposed Revision

Under the existing examination timetable, the Common General Test and the General English paper have been scheduled between Chemistry Paper I and Chemistry Paper II.

School principals and teachers have pointed out that placing other examination papers between the two Chemistry papers could create additional pressure and inconvenience for students preparing for the subject.

Taking these concerns into consideration, the Department of Examinations intends to rearrange the Chemistry examination timetable in a manner similar to the arrangements followed during previous years.

The Commissioner General stated that the revision would be made for the convenience and wellbeing of students sitting for the Advanced Level examination.

Important Points

The revision follows requests made by principals, teachers and students.

The present timetable places the Common General Test and General English between Chemistry Paper I and Paper II.

Educators believe the current arrangement may create additional pressure and inconvenience for students.

The revised arrangement is expected to follow a pattern similar to previous examination years.

Students must wait for the officially revised timetable before confirming the examination dates.
