Recruitment of Visiting Lecturers – SLIATE

The Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE), operating under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to serve as Visiting Lecturers for the 2026 First Semester.

Visiting lecturers are required for subjects offered under Higher National Diploma programmes conducted at Advanced Technological Institutes (ATIs) around Sri Lanka.

Priority will be given to applicants who are willing to visit the relevant ATI to conduct lectures and contribute to question-paper setting and paper marking.

Preference and Eligibility

Applicants should possess educational and professional qualifications relevant to the subject they intend to teach.
Preference will be given to degree holders or applicants with higher qualifications in the relevant field.
Preference may also be given to qualified applicants residing within the district or province of the relevant ATI.
Applicants should contact the relevant ATI to obtain information about available subjects.
Applicants employed in government departments or statutory bodies must forward their applications through the Head of the Department.

Approved Visiting Lecturer Payments

Rs. 1,000 per hour Minimum five years of teaching experience without a basic degree in the relevant field.

Rs. 1,500 per hour Basic degree in the relevant field with a minimum of five years’ experience.

Rs. 2,000 per hour Basic degree with a postgraduate diploma or master’s degree and a minimum of five years’ relevant experience.

Rs. 2,000 per hour Degree-qualified professionals with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience.

Rs. 2,000 per hour Engineering professionals, including Chartered Engineers.

Important: Applicants submitting foreign degree qualifications must attach evidence of accreditation or recognition issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the qualification to be considered during selection.

🌊 About the Diploma Programme

Applications are invited from eligible unmarried Sri Lankan candidates for admission to the Higher National Diploma in Irrigation Technology – 2026, conducted by the International Training Institute of Irrigation and Water Management, Kothmale.

The institute functions under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation and is registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission.

The programme is a three-year, full-time course consisting of a two-year residential academic training period, followed by a one-year field training period.

Important: The course is conducted in English Medium. Successful trainees will receive an NVQ Level 6 Diploma Certificate, subject to completing the required written and practical examinations.

✅ Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be unmarried Sri Lankan citizens.
Applicants should have passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting, with Credit Passes in Sinhala or Tamil, English Language, Mathematics and Science.
Applicants must have passed three subjects from the Mathematics Stream of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in one sitting.
Applicants must be under 25 years of age on the closing date for applications.
Applicants must be in good physical and mental health.

📝 Recruitment and Selection Procedure

Candidates who satisfy the required qualifications will be selected through the following procedure:

Online Application Submit the completed application through the official website.

Aptitude Test Eligible candidates must sit for a 1½-hour competitive aptitude test.

Interview Final selection will be based on marks obtained at the examination and interview.

Applications must be submitted through the official online application portal.
The application form must be completed in English Medium.
Applicants must upload scanned PDF copies of their G.C.E. O/L and G.C.E. A/L examination certificates.
A scanned PDF copy of the Birth Certificate must be uploaded to verify the applicant’s age.
Applicants should ensure that all information and uploaded documents are accurate before submitting the application.

⚠️ Special Conditions

The training course will be conducted in English Medium.
Expenses related to the academic programme will be borne by the Government of Sri Lanka, and residential facilities will be provided by the institute.
Trainees must bear their own food, medical and other personal expenses during the training period.
Selected trainees must sign an agreement to follow the discipline and ethics of the training institution and complete the full training period successfully.
Selected applicants must undergo a medical examination and submit the completed medical form at registration.
A trainee who leaves the programme before completing the training may be required to repay the expenses incurred by the Government.
The Ministry and the training institute are not obliged to provide employment after completing the programme.
Applicants must not be registered for another higher education course.

වසර 02ක නේවාසික අධ්‍යයන පුහුණුවක් ඇතුළත් වේ.

இது மூன்று வருட முழுநேர பயிற்சி நெறியாகும்.
இரண்டு வருட வதிவிட கல்விப் பயிற்சி வழங்கப்படும்.
ஒரு வருட களப் பயிற்சி வழங்கப்படும்.
பயிற்சி நெறி ஆங்கில மொழி மூலம் நடத்தப்படும்.
வெற்றிகரமாக நிறைவு செய்பவர்களுக்கு NVQ Level 6 டிப்ளோமா வழங்கப்படும்.
