The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies – LKIIRSS invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Executive Director.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to the Institute, managing its administration and promoting its research and strategic interests in Sri Lanka and overseas.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and administer the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies.
- Promote and further the interests of the Institute in Sri Lanka and abroad.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of Research Officers.
General Eligibility Requirements
Every applicant must:
- Be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Be physically and mentally fit to discharge the duties of the post and to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- Possess excellent moral character.
Qualifications – External Candidates
External applicants must satisfy the requirements under Option 01 or Option 02.
Option 01 – Degree, Postgraduate Qualification and Experience
A Bachelor's Degree recognized by the University Grants Commission in one of the following areas or another field relevant to the post:
- Business Management
- Human Resource Management
- Business Administration
- Public Administration
- Commerce
- Economics
- International Relations and Strategic Studies
- Another relevant field
A recognized postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area, or corporate membership of a recognized professional chartered institution relevant to the post.
At least 18 years of managerial-level experience, including at least 5 years at Senior Managerial Level, after obtaining the first degree.
Option 02 – Degree, PhD and Senior Managerial Experience
A UGC-recognized Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject area.
A PhD in Business Management, Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Commerce, Economics, International Relations and Strategic Studies or another relevant field.
At least 5 years of experience at Senior Managerial Level with a proven management track record, obtained after completing the PhD.
Qualifications – Internal Candidates
- A minimum of five years of satisfactory service in a post in the Senior Manager HM category in a subject area relevant to the position.
- Proven ability to lead and direct multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in the proper deployment and efficient management of human and other resources.
