Applications are invited from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the post of Transport Costing Officer Grade III in the Associated Officer Service Category of the Sri Lanka Railway Department.

According to the Gazette notice, 02 appointments are expected to be made through this recruitment examination.

🎓 Required Qualifications

General Requirements

• Applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Applicant must be of excellent character.
• Applicant must possess adequate physical and mental fitness to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.

Educational Qualifications

🎂 Age Limit

The applicant must be not less than 21 years and not more than 35 years of age as at the closing date for applications.

💰 Salary Scale

Rs. 53,060 – 10 × 800 – 11 × 1,190 – 10 × 1,320 – 5 × 1,350 – Rs. 94,100

Other allowances payable to government officers may also be applicable in accordance with government regulations.

🏛 Nature of Appointment

• The post is permanent.
• The appointment is subject to a three-year probation period.
• The First Efficiency Bar Examination prescribed for the post must be passed within three years of recruitment.
• The prescribed proficiency in the relevant official language must be obtained within five years after appointment, in accordance with the applicable Public Administration circulars.

📝 Written Examination

The written examination consists of the following two papers:

Intelligence Test

The paper is designed to assess language ability, reasoning, decision-making ability and mathematical skills. It consists of 50 multiple-choice and short-answer questions.

Costing & Statistics

This paper evaluates knowledge relating to areas such as:

• Use of costing methods in management decision-making
• Material, labour and overhead costs
• Cost analysis
• Variable and fixed costs
• Direct and indirect costs
• Long-term and short-term costs
• Economic costs and costing principles
• Statistical information for management decisions
• Data collection and analysis
• Statistical forecasting

🌐 Examination Medium

The examination will be conducted in:

Candidates must answer all examination papers in the same language medium. The medium indicated in the application cannot subsequently be changed.

🏆 Selection Procedure

Candidates who pass the written examination will be ranked according to merit.

A number of candidates equal to twice the number of vacancies will be called for a structured interview.

Marks at the structured interview are allocated for:

• Additional Educational Qualifications – 10 Marks
• Professional Qualifications – 20 Marks
• Experience – 25 Marks
• Information Technology Knowledge – 20 Marks
• English Language Proficiency – 20 Marks
• Skills demonstrated at the Interview – 05 Marks

💳 Examination Fee

The examination fee is Rs. 1,200.00.

According to the Gazette, the fee should be credited through any People's Bank branch to the following account:

The original receipt should be securely attached to the application at the prescribed place. Applicants are advised to retain a photocopy of the receipt.

📮 How to Apply

The application should be prepared according to the specimen application published in the Gazette notice.

• Use A4 size paper.
• Complete the application in the language medium in which you intend to sit the examination.
• Attach the original examination fee receipt in the specified place.
• The applicant's signature must be certified by an authorized person specified in the Gazette.
• Send the completed application by registered post.

The name of the examination should be clearly written on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
