The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education invites online applications for two separate limited competitive examinations to recruit qualified officers to Grade III of the Technical Faculty Assistant service.

The two positions are:

Only permanent and confirmed officers belonging to the Primary Skilled/Primary Service Category of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education may apply.

The applicant must have completed at least five years of active and satisfactory service in a permanent post in an institution belonging to the General Education Sector under the Ministry.

Educational Qualifications

Must have passed six subjects at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in one sitting.
Must have Credit Passes in the Mother Tongue, Mathematics, Science and one other subject.

Required Service Experience

At least five years of active and satisfactory service in a permanent post in the Primary Service Category.
Service may be in a National School, National College of Education, Teachers' College, Teacher Centre or another institution belonging to the General Education Sector under the Ministry.
Temporary, casual, contract and training periods completed before permanent appointment will not be counted.

Other Requirements

The applicant must hold a permanent and confirmed appointment.
The applicant must have completed satisfactory service during the five years immediately before the qualification date.
The applicant must not have received a disciplinary punishment under the relevant Public Service Commission provisions.
The relevant Efficiency Bar Examination must have been completed by the closing date.

Main Responsibilities

Taking responsibility for Biosystems Technology laboratories and laboratory equipment in school technology faculties.
Maintaining inventories of chemicals, consumable materials and equipment.
Identifying shortages and assisting with ordering and issuing required materials.
Repairing repairable equipment and protecting laboratory property from damage or loss.
Assisting teachers and students during practical activities.
Ensuring the safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment.

Technical Faculty Assistant – Engineering Technology

Grade III | Management Assistant (Non-Technical), Segment 02

Taking responsibility for equipment in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technology laboratories.
Maintaining stock books and consumable-material records under the supervision of the relevant subject teacher.
Identifying shortages and assisting teachers to order the required quantities.
Preparing equipment, workbenches and practical activity areas for students.
Identifying equipment requiring maintenance and carrying out appropriate repair and maintenance work.
Following electrical, workshop and practical activity safety procedures.

📝 Examination and Selection Procedure

The examinations will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. Applicants must select one examination medium and answer all question papers in that medium. The selected medium cannot be changed later.

General Knowledge 100 Marks

Intelligence Test 100 Marks
1 Hour

Suitability Interview 50 Marks

Applicants must obtain at least 40 marks in each written examination paper.
Candidates will be called for the suitability interview according to the merit order of the written examination.
The number called for interview may be twice the number of appointments expected to be made.
The final merit order will be determined using the written examination marks and suitability interview marks.

💰 Salary and Appointment Conditions

Salary Code: MN 01-2025
Salary Scale: Rs. 45,230 – 10 × 540 – 11 × 630 – 10 × 890 – 10 × 1,190 – Rs. 78,360
The above salary scale becomes applicable from 01 January 2027, subject to the relevant public administration circular.
The position is permanent and pensionable, subject to future policy decisions of the Government regarding pensions.
Selected applicants must normally serve for at least three years at their first place of appointment.
The appointment will be subject to a one-year acting period.
The first Efficiency Bar Examination must be passed within three years of recruitment.
Selected officers must complete the applicable official language proficiency requirements.

The number of appointments and the effective date of appointments will be determined by the Secretary to the Ministry.

தேசிய பாடசாலைகள், தேசிய கல்வியியற் கல்லூரிகள், ஆசிரியர் கல்லூரிகள், ஆசிரியர் நிலையங்கள் அல்லது அமைச்சின் பொதுக் கல்விப் பிரிவைச் சேர்ந்த நிறுவனமொன்றில் குறைந்தது 05 வருட செயற்பாடுமிக்கதும் திருப்திகரமானதுமான நிரந்தர சேவையை நிறைவு செய்திருக்க வேண்டும்.

Applications are invited for the Open Competitive Examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Controller of Explosives – Grade III in the Executive Service Category of the Ministry of Defence.

The revised salary scale becomes fully applicable from 01 January 2027.

The post is permanent and pensionable, subject to future government policy decisions concerning the applicable pension scheme.

The appointment is subject to a three-year probationary period.

The First Efficiency Bar Examination must be passed within three years from the date of recruitment.

✅ General Eligibility Requirements

The applicant must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

✓

The applicant must be not less than 21 years and not more than 35 years as at 07 August 2026.

✓

Eligible applicants should have been born on or before 07 August 2005 and on or after 07 August 1991.

✓

The maximum age limit does not apply to internal applicants or applicants already serving in the Public Service or Provincial Public Service.

✓

The applicant must possess an excellent moral character.

✓

The applicant must be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and perform the duties of the post.

✓

A person holding an ordained position in any religious denomination is not eligible to sit for this examination.

🎓 Educational Qualifications

Applicants must possess at least one of the following educational or professional qualifications.

Option 01 A Special Degree in Chemistry with a class from a university recognised by the University Grants Commission.

Option 02 A Degree in Science with Chemistry, with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division, from a university recognised by the University Grants Commission.

Option 03 A Degree in Science with Chemistry together with a Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry from a university recognised by the University Grants Commission.

Option 04 Chartered Membership of the Institute of Chemistry.

Qualifications for Internal Applicants

An officer serving in the Ministry of Defence who possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree with Chemistry from a university recognised by the University Grants Commission and has completed five years of continuous and satisfactory service in work related to explosives under the supervision of the Controller of Explosives.

This internal qualification applies only to officers who were serving as authorised officers in the relevant explosives field under the Ministry of Defence as at 23 March 2012.

Important: All qualifications relevant to the post must have been completed on or before 07 August 2026.

The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. Each applicant must select one examination medium and answer all question papers in that selected medium.

The selected examination medium cannot be changed after the application is submitted.

This paper assesses essay writing, summary writing, comprehension and the applicant's ability to use language correctly.

Intelligence Test

This objective-type paper assesses logical reasoning, analytical ability and the ability to reach accurate conclusions using verbal, numerical and diagrammatic information.

Practical Chemistry

This paper covers Sri Lanka's geographical location, distribution of mineral resources, chemical foundations of economic development, composition and use of explosives, the Explosives Ordinance and its subsequent amendments.

Candidates must obtain at least 40% for each question paper. Appointments will be made according to the order of merit and the number of available vacancies.
