Applications are invited from qualified candidates for recruitment to the post of Fireman in the Fire Brigade Unit of the Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Municipal Council.

Educational Qualifications

• Passed the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination in six subjects, with credit passes in four subjects including Sinhala/Tamil Language and Mathematics, in one sitting.
• Passed Science and English Language in the same sitting or in one additional sitting.

Physical Qualifications

• Minimum height: 162 cm.
• Body Mass Index must be within the stated normal range of 18.5–24.
• Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post.
• Eyesight without spectacles or contact lenses must be between 6/6 and 6/12.
• Colour vision must be normal.
• Applicants should comply with all other physical conditions stated in the official notice.

Other Important Requirements

• Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Must have been a permanent resident of the Western Province continuously for the three years immediately before the application closing date.
• Applications are limited to unmarried male candidates.
• Must possess excellent moral character.
• Applicants must be between 18 and 24 years as at the closing date.

Selection Procedure

Qualified applicants will be called for a written examination. Candidates who pass the written examination will undergo a trade/practical test. Selection will be made according to merit, and selected candidates will follow a one-year training course as Apprentice Firemen.
