Applications for Candidates Qualified Through Re-Scrutinized & Withheld A/L Results

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the calling of online applications for university admission for the Academic Year 2025/2026.

This opportunity is for applicants who have become eligible to apply for university admission based on the re-scrutinized results and withheld results of the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination 2025 (2026).

📌 This opportunity is not applicable for courses of study where the relevant University, Campus or Higher Educational Institute has already completed the required aptitude or practical tests.

Applications for Students Who Sat G.C.E. A/L in 2023 / 2024 / 2025

🎓 Interest Free Student Loan Scheme – 11th Intake

Applications are invited for the 11th Intake of the Interest Free Student Loan Scheme (IFSLS) implemented under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.

The scheme provides an opportunity for eligible Sri Lankan students to follow approved degree programmes offered by participating non-state higher education institutes.

Students who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2023, 2024 or 2025 may check their eligibility and submit an application through the official Student Loans portal.

⏰ Closing Date 27 September 2026
🎓 Eligible A/L Years 2023 / 2024 / 2025
💰 Maximum Loan Amount Up to Rs. 1,500,000

📌 Important Information

  • This is an Interest Free Student Loan Scheme for eligible students seeking higher education opportunities.
  • Applicants should have sat the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2023, 2024 or 2025.
  • Applicants must satisfy the academic, age and other eligibility requirements specified by the Ministry.
  • Students can select from approved degree programmes offered by participating non-state higher education institutes.
  • The maximum student loan available under the scheme is Rs. 1,500,000, subject to the applicable conditions.
  • Applicants are advised to carefully check the eligible degree programmes, institutes, entry qualifications and official instructions before submitting the online application.

Schooling Period Verification System

For Candidates of G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination 2025

Important Notice

School principals should login to the school account and verify the schooling period details of students who applied for the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination 2025 from their school.

How to Verify Student Details

When certifying the university application page of a student, enter the relevant student’s index number in the search box. Then click the Edit button and enter the required information.

Principals can also update details of all students who applied for the G.C.E. (A/L) 2025 examination from the school by clicking the Edit button in each student record.

Special Note

If a student joined your school after 01.01.2023, provide details of each school and the relevant schooling period attended during the three-year period before that date.

After UGC Application Deadline

After the closing date for university admission applications for the academic year 2025/2026, principals should take a printout of the generated PDF, place the signature and official seal, and send it by registered post to:

The Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka has officially announced the Practical Examination schedule for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination 2025 (to be held in 2026).

Accordingly, the practical examinations for relevant subjects will be conducted on the following dates.
