ICT Officer Recruitment 2026 – Overview
The Northern Provincial Public Service Commission has announced an open competitive examination for recruitment to the post of Information and Communication Technology Officer, Class 2, Grade II, in the Northern Provincial ICT Service.
Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan citizens who satisfy the educational, age and Northern Province residency requirements.

Salary and Conditions of Service
Salary Code: MN-6-2025
Salary Scale: Rs. 62,230 – 10 × 1,190 – 11 × 1,360 – 15 × 1,670 – Rs. 114,140.
The salary is subject to the implementation provisions of Public Administration Circular 10/2025.
- The appointment is permanent and pensionable.
- Selected candidates are subject to a three-year probationary period.
- The first Efficiency Bar Examination must be passed within three years.
- Selected officers must be willing to serve anywhere in the Northern Province.
- The prescribed second official language proficiency must be obtained within three years of appointment.
General Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Applicants must be aged between 21 and 35 years as at the closing date.
- Applicants must be of good character.
- Applicants must satisfy the prescribed educational and physical fitness requirements.
Northern Province Residency Requirement
Applicants must satisfy either of the following:
- Have permanently resided in the Northern Province for at least three consecutive years within the six years immediately before the closing date.
- Alternatively, the applicant or their parents must have been born in the Northern Province, with the prescribed five years of continuous permanent residence in the Northern Province.
Residency must be supported by the required electoral register records at the interview.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must satisfy at least one of the qualification routes specified in the official notification.
Route 1 – Computer Science / IT Degree
A degree in Computer Science or Information Technology awarded by a university or degree-awarding institution recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Route 2 – Relevant Degree or Postgraduate Diploma
A recognised degree in which Computer Science or Information Technology is a main subject and forms at least one-third of the degree content; or a recognised postgraduate diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology, as specified in the notice.
Route 3 – Degree with IT Postgraduate Qualification
A recognised degree together with a recognised postgraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
Route 4 – NVQ Qualification and Experience
A TVEC-recognised NVQ Level 7 qualification or equivalent, together with two years of professional experience in the Information Technology field from an eligible institution.
Competitive Examination – Subjects and Marks
The written examination is expected to be held in November 2026 and will consist of three papers.
01. Information and Communication Technology
Duration: 2 Hours | Marks: 100
Topics include ICT principles, computer architecture, operating systems, office software, databases, computer networks, internet services, web design, email, hardware and ICT project life cycles.
02. Aptitude
Duration: 1 Hour | Marks: 100
Statistics, critical reasoning, analytical skills and related questions. Includes 50 multiple-choice and short-answer questions.
03. General Intelligence
Duration: 1 Hour | Marks: 100
Analytical ability, logical comprehension, interpretation, numerical and linguistic reasoning, figurative structures and problem solving.
The examination is conducted in Sinhala and Tamil. The selected language medium cannot be changed afterwards.

- Complete all required information accurately.
- Pay the Rs. 500 examination fee at a Divisional Secretariat in the Northern Province in favour of the Secretary, Provincial Public Service Commission, Northern Province.
- Attach the original payment receipt in the relevant section of the application.
- Obtain the required certification of your signature.
- Send the completed application by registered post so that it reaches the Commission on or before 30 October 2026.

විභාග විෂයයන්: තොරතුරු හා සන්නිවේදන තාක්ෂණය, අභියෝග්යතාව සහ සාමාන්ය බුද්ධිය.
අයදුම්පත් ලියාපදිංචි තැපෑලෙන් යොමු කළ යුතුය. සම්පූර්ණ සුදුසුකම් සහ අයදුම් කිරීමේ උපදෙස් සඳහා නිල සිංහල නිවේදනය කියවන්න.

வடக்கு மாகாண பொதுச் சேவை ஆணைக்குழுவினால் தகவல் மற்றும் தொடர்பாடல் தொழில்நுட்ப உத்தியோகத்தர் பதவியின் 2ஆம் வகுப்பு தரம் II இற்கு திறந்த போட்டிப் பரீட்சை மூலம் ஆட்சேர்ப்புச் செய்வதற்காக விண்ணப்பங்கள் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளன.
