Recruitment Overview

Applications are invited from qualified Sri Lankan citizens for the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Audit Officer, Grade II of Class III in the Field/Office-Based Service Category of the Sri Lanka State Audit Service.

The Gazette notification states that there are 244 vacancies. The actual number of appointments and the effective date of appointment will be determined by the Audit Service Commission according to the vacancies available at the time of recruitment.

The examination is expected to be conducted by the Commissioner General of Examinations in Colombo during December 2026.

Educational Qualifications

Age Limit

General Applicants

• Minimum age: 22 years
• Maximum age: 28 years
• Age will be calculated as at 12 October 2026.
• Eligible dates of birth are from 12.10.1998 to 12.10.2004, including both dates.

Applicants Already in Government Service

The age of an applicant already serving in the government service should not exceed 45 years, subject to the requirements stated in the Gazette.

Salary and Service Conditions

• Salary code: AS 01-2025
• Monthly salary scale: Rs. 64,610 – 10 × 1,190 – 11 × 1,360 – 15 × 1,670 – Rs. 116,520
• Initial salary point: Rs. 64,610
• The post is permanent and pensionable.
• Selected officers may be required to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
• Appointment will be subject to the probationary period and other conditions specified in the Service Minute.
• Officers must obtain the required proficiency in the other official language in accordance with the applicable public administration circulars.

Examination and Selection

The examination will be conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. Applicants must answer all papers in the same approved examination medium.

Applicants will be required to sit three written papers according to the qualification category selected in the online application. Subjects referred to in the Gazette include:

• General Intelligence;
• Creative, Analytical and Communication Skills;
• Financial Accounting;
• Auditing;
• Information and Communication Technology Knowledge; and
• Aptitude for Information and Communication Technology Management.

The applicable three papers depend on whether the applicant applies under Category A or Category B.

• A minimum of 40% must be obtained for each written paper.
• A minimum overall average of 50% is required.
• Qualified applicants will be called for an interview to verify educational qualifications and relevant records.
• No marks will be awarded for the interview.
• Selection will be based on the aggregate marks obtained in the three written papers, subject to the number of vacancies and the relevant recruitment category.
