  1. Minimum entry qualification for these diploma courses relevant NVQ Level 4 qualifications with effective date prior to 31st December 2017 or three passes in GCE (A/L) in one sitting in the relevant stream.
  2. Age should be below 29 years as at 19.09.2018

Introduction for Korean Language (Spoken and Written)


The course is designed for students who need the Korean language for general, practical or social purposes. Specially designed to facilitate language learning in a step-by-step format in a conducive learning environment, this course is ideal for complete beginners as well as those who wish to enhance their basic knowledge and understanding of the Korean language.

      The course will be offered at two levels:
    1. Basic Level
    2. Intermediate Level
Regular face-to-face sessions will be conducted by the Department of Language Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the OUSL, Nawala, Nugegoda on 
  • Thursday (Basic Level) and 
  • Fridays (Intermediate Level) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon OR 
  • on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (Basic Level) and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Intermediate Level)
Printed texts and audio material will be provided

Eligibility criteria for the award 
  • Applicant must be under 25 years at the time of application.
  • Applicant must possess a minimum of 6 O/L passes with 3 credits.
  • Scholarships are provided for vocational, job-oriented, foundation and intermediate level courses. Professional courses after intermediate level are not considered for the award.
  • The course duration must be a minimum of six months.
  • Applicants already enrolled are not eligible.
  • Applicants denied cannot reapply within 1 year.
  • Courses that are free or financed by other scholarships are not considered.
  • Courses conducted only by recognized institutions are accepted.
  • University graduates, undergraduates or students accepted by any university and awaiting entry are not eligible.

PRE-QUALIFICATION / TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1) The applicant must be under 25 years of age on the closing date of the application.

3) Courses ending on or before December this year (Advertised year) are not eligible.
4) Courses that would be 50% or more completed by 1st October this year are not eligible
5) University graduates / undergraduates are not entitled for this scholarship scheme.
6) Courses that are free or already financed by other scholarships are not entitled.
7) Only vocational courses will be considered.
8) Courses conducted only by recognized institutions are accepted.
9) Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
10) Please attach copies of O/L and A/L certificates, NIC and PP size photo along with the application. (Please do not submit original certificates).
11) The Course Prospectus and fee structure must be attached along with the application.
12) The information marked with ‘*’ are mandatory. If not completed your application will be rejected.
13) All applications will be processed, but only the short-listed applicants will be called for an interview.
14) Influencing in any form will be treated as a disqualification. All application must be submitted to mailing address stated in the advertisement.
15) If any information furnished by you found to be incorrect, your application will be rejected and if found to be incorrect after the grant of the scholarship, the assistance will be suspended or stopped without notice.
