PROPOSED NEW NAMES OF UVA PROVINCIAL TAMIL SCHOOLS 

RECOMMENDATION of the Committee appointed on the basis of the number 8/1/3w' u' m' of Cabinet papers approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Uva Provincial Council to consider the proposal made by the Principal’s & School Development Societies to revise the names of the Tamil Medium Schools (without Muslim Schools) under the Uva Provincial Council, the Cabinet Memorandum No. 68/2019 declaring that the names of these Schools should therefore be mentioned in Column three.

The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of Indian High Commission, Colombo has organized the Shankar's International Children's Competition on Saturday,November 16 from 9.00 am to 1.0 pm at the SVCC to mark Children's Day and the birth anniversary of Jawaharlaal Nehru, the first Prime minister of India, which falls on November 14, a press release issued by the SVCC said.

All children born on or after January 1,2004, are welcome to participate in painting, drawing and essay competitions on Earth is the only home we have, Treasure it' and

The National Library and Documentation Services Board has declared October as the national Reading Month. In Relation to this, the NLDSB has decided to offer one year free membership of the National Library to Sri Lankan readers during the National reading Month in October, this year.

Applications forms can be obtained from the main counter of the reader services division. All Srilankans, irrespective of any limitations are eligible for membership.

Special Notification to A/L Bio Students 2020 Ministry Of Education , උසස් පෙළ 2020 ජීව විද්‍යා සිසුන් වෙත විශේෂ දැනුම්දීම, சிறப்பு அறிவிப்பு A / L உயிரியல் மாணவர்கள் 2020 கல்வி அமைச்சு

 Ministry of Education has released a special notification to Secretaries, Directors and principals regarding the Syllabus of GCE A/L Biological Science Stream.

According to Circular no 23/2019, Questions will be covered from UNIT 10 too for 2020 AL Students. Unit 10 should be covered to all students who sit for the A/L Exam in 2020 (Even for repeaters of 2019 Batch)

Saturn has overtaken Jupiter as the solar system's planet with the most moons aftre scientists discovered 20 more orbiting the ringed planet.

Saturns total moons are 82 and jupiters 79.

සෙනසුරු බොහෝ චන්ද්‍රයන් සහිත ග්‍රහලෝකයක් බවට පත්වේ.සෙනසුරුට 82 ක් ඇත. බ්‍රහස්පතිට 79 ක් ඇත

அதிக சந்திரன்களைக் கொண்ட கிரகமாக சனி கிரகம் காணப்படுகின்றது. சனிக்கிரகம் 82 சந்திரன்களையூம், வியாழன் 79 சந்திரன்களையூம் கொண்டுள்ளது.

Foundation Course in Physics 2019/2020


Foundation course in Physics is conducted by the Institute of Physics Sri Lanka (IPSL) for those who lack academic qualifications equivalent to that of a pass in A/L Physics as an entry requirement to the Degree Programmes in Universities.

The course is designed based on the G.C.E.(A/L) local syllabus including Practicals and field visits to research Institutions. Duration of the course is one year.

University Academics and Scientists in Research Institutions conduct the lectures. The course will be commencing in October 2019 only in Colombo on Saturdays/Sundays. This course is suitable also for the students that follow the G.C.E. (A/L) in science stream.

Requirements
  • Be between 17-30 years of age for the LLB degree programme and between 17-24 years of age for other degree programmes on the closing date of applications. 
  • Have completed the G.C.E. (A/L) examination in the year 2017/2018 or London (A/L) (Cambridge or Edexcel) examination in the year 2018/2019 or any other equivalent foreign examination in the year 2018/2019 in one sitting and be eligible to apply for university admission.  
  • Have obtained a pass mark (marks 30 and above) for the Common General Test. 
  • Have obtained a minimum of a Credit pass (C) for English Language at the G.C.E. (O/L) examination or in London (O/L) or in any other equivalent foreign examination. 
  • Have obtained a pass mark for the Selection Test and for the Structured Interview conducted by the KDU.

The University Grants Commission will entertain applications from candidates who have excelled in the field of sports to follow a course of study in Sports Science & Management conducted by the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and to follow a course of study in Physical Education conducted by the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. 

requirements 
  • Winning medals or participation in Olympic Games. 
  • Winning at least Gold, Silver or Bronze Medals in Commonwealth Games, Asian Games or SAARC Games. 
  • Member of a national team representing Sri Lanka at Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, SAARC Games or in a recognized World Cup in a sport such as Cricket, Football, Rugby, Volleyball, Netball or any other sport as decided by the University Grants Commission. 

The candidates selected for admission under this special category should complete a suitable foundation course conducted by the Open University of Sri Lanka before commencing of the academic programme.
