Calling Applications to Recruit for Grade III of the Combined Drivers’ Service
Ministry of Provincial Councils , Local Government and Sports

Qualifications 
  • Age 18 - 45   
  • Passed G.C.E. (O/L) examination in six subjects at least with two credit passes including Sinhala/Tamil language at not more than two sittings.
  • Possessed a valid driving license issued by the Commissioner-General of Motor Traffic with regard to driving of private/hiring vehicles and station wagons tare of which less than 24 CWT. (A driving license in vehicle Class C and C1 or a driving license in Class B under new procedure shall have been obtained at least before three (03) years from the date of recruitment)
  • Shall possess 3 years of experience as a driver of Motor vehicles. 
  • minimum height of 5 ft.
Salary:   Rs. 25,790 – 10 X 270 – 10 X 300 – 10 X 330 – 12 X 350 – Rs. 38,990  .  \

Trade Test
  1. Competence in driving
  2. Practical knowledge of highway rules
  3. Basic knowledge on motor mechanics

Parliament Live - In your preferred language


Parliament website and mobile app now provides the facility to listen to simultaneous interpretation of parliamentary speeches while watching or listening “Parliament Live”. Users are able to switch between the original language and the selected language (Sinhala/Tamil/English) of the website.

Simultaneous interpretation was first introduced to the Sri Lankan Legislature in 1957 and Sri Lanka was the first country in the Asian region to introduce this facility to its Legislature. At the beginning, this facility was available only to interpret Sinhala and Tamil speeches into English. Subsequently this facility was extended and interpretation is now available for English, Sinhala and Tamil.  

The general public will now have this facility that was hitherto available only for Members of Parliament, officers of Parliament secretariat, media personnel, and guests in a few galleries.

The Parliament website started live streaming of House proceedings in January 2016. It also has a recorded archive of proceedings from September 2010.

Health’ to be made a compulsory subject for O/L exam in 2023


Considering the proposal submitted by the Committee of Experts on Educational Reforms, the Cabinet of Ministers have approved the proposal made Minister of Health Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senaratne to make the subject “Health” compulsory in the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination. 
The proposal will be implemented subject to the approval of National Education Commission.
The Health subject is currently only compulsory from Grade 6 to 9 in the country’s school syllabus while it is not a compulsory subject for students sitting for the O/L examination. 
The Committee of Experts on Educational Reforms had also proposed to include the subject ‘Health and Physical Education’ compulsory in the schoool syllabus until the Ordinary Level exam at the next school curriculum amendment to be carried out in 2023.

Recruitment of Audit Examiners to Grade II of the Audit Examiners’ Service – 2018

  • Should be a graduate of a recognized University or have obtained equivalent qualification OR
  • Should have passed the Examination of Licentiate or Intermediate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Sri Lanka. Or
  • Should have passed the Higher National Diploma in Accountancy / Commerce of Technical College of Sri Lanka/ Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education.
  • Be not less than 22 years and not more than 32 years

Salary Scale 
  • Rs.34,605-10X660-11X755-15X930-Rs.63,460.


The examination fee is Rs.600. This fee should be paid to any Post Office/ Sub-Post Office in the Island on or before the closing date of applications with instructions that it should be credited to Revenue Head 2003-02-13 of the Commissioner General of Examinations and the receipt obtained in your name should be affixed to the application.

The application should be filled in the language in which the candidate eligible to sit for the examination

(a) B.A. Special Degree in Sociology from a recognized University with a second class honours or
