A/L Results Warning Sri Lanka – Don’t Share Full Result Sheet on Social Media (Index Number & NIC Risk)

GCE A/L Results Sharing Warning Sri Lanka 2026 - Do not share result sheet with index number and NIC online

The Department of Examinations has issued a critical warning to all GCE A/L students regarding the sharing of results on social media. While many students are excited to share their achievements, posting your full result sheet online—especially with your Index Number and NIC visible—can lead to serious risks such as application blocks, identity misuse, and delays in accessing important services. Even a simple screenshot can be misused by others without your knowledge. Therefore, students are strongly advised to be cautious and avoid sharing sensitive personal details when posting their results online.

⚠️
Critical Alert for GCE A/L Students

Do Not Share Your Full A/L Result Sheet Online

Sharing your result sheet publicly with your Index Number and NIC visible can create legal issues, service blocks, fraudulent registrations, and future higher education problems.

🚫 Never post your full result sheet with personal details visible on Facebook, WhatsApp, or other social media.

✅ DO SHARE

  • Share only your grades summary if needed.
  • Blur or cover your Index Number.
  • Blur or cover your NIC number.
  • Check screenshots before posting.

❌ DON’T SHARE

  • Do not post the full result sheet publicly.
  • Do not show Index Number clearly.
  • Do not show NIC or personal details.
  • Do not share another student’s results without permission.
🇬🇧 English

Warning on Sharing Results

The Department of Examinations emphasizes that exam results are state property. Sharing results belonging to others without permission is a punishable offense. Sharing your own result sheet publicly can also create serious technical and legal problems.

📌 Application Issues
If someone else uses your index number to register for certificates or re-corrections, you may be blocked when trying to access those services yourself.
🎓 Identity Theft in Higher Education
Unauthorized persons may use your details to begin online applications for Universities, Colleges of Education (Vidya Peeta), or other higher education courses.
⏳ Administrative Delays
Correcting fraudulent registrations may require complaints, documentation, and legal proof, causing stress and delay.
Verdict: If you must share your result, always hide your Index Number and NIC.
